Day 1 | January 6 | Drawing Closer to God

As we begin this journey of 21 days of prayer and fasting, we are invited to refocus our hearts on God. Life can distract us, pulling our attention toward responsibilities, desires, and challenges that compete for our time and affection. Today, the call is simple: Draw closer to God.

The Bible assures us that when we take steps toward God, He moves toward us (James 4:8). This is not about earning His presence—it’s about creating room for His love to transform us. Like the psalmist, we’re encouraged to thirst for God with the same desperation as a deer seeks water (Psalm 42:1-2).

The process of drawing near requires faith, as Hebrews 11:6 reminds us. It’s not about merely going through the motions of prayer or fasting—it’s about believing that God is real, that He hears you, and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.

In Jeremiah 29:13, God promises that when we seek Him wholeheartedly, we will find Him. Let this truth motivate you to pursue God with every fiber of your being. Fasting may require sacrifice, but it is a declaration that you value God above all else.

Finally, as Matthew 6:33 teaches, the pursuit of God’s kingdom and righteousness must take precedence over everything else. Trust that as you prioritize Him, He will take care of your needs.
