Day 18 | January 23 | Humility & Surrender

Humility and surrender are essential for a life that honors God. They reflect a heart that recognizes God’s greatness, submits to His will, and puts the needs of others above self-interest. Today’s Scriptures challenge us to live in humility and surrender, following the example of Jesus Christ.

James 4:10 teaches that when we humble ourselves before the Lord, He will lift us up. True humility acknowledges our dependence on God and trusts Him to guide and exalt us in His perfect timing.

Philippians 2:3 calls us to reject selfish ambition and embrace humility, valuing others above ourselves. This mindset fosters unity and reflects the selfless love of Christ.

In Matthew 16:24, Jesus calls His followers to deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow Him. Surrendering to Christ means laying down our own desires and ambitions to embrace His purpose and plan for our lives.

Proverbs 22:4 reminds us that humility and the fear of the Lord lead to blessings—riches, honor, and life. These rewards may not always be material but reflect the abundant life that comes from walking closely with God.

Romans 12:1 challenges us to offer ourselves as living sacrifices, fully surrendered to God. This act of worship demonstrates our gratitude for His mercy and our commitment to living for His glory.

True humility acknowledges our dependence on God and trusts Him to guide and exalt us in His perfect timing.

Reflection Questions:

  1. Are there areas in your life where you need to humble yourself before God?
  2. How can you surrender more fully to His will and purpose?
  3. What steps can you take to value others above yourself and follow Christ’s example of humility?

Prayer Focus:

  • Ask God to help you cultivate humility and surrender in your daily life.
  • Pray for the strength to deny yourself and follow Christ wholeheartedly.
  • Thank God for the blessings and peace that come from walking humbly with Him.
